The Millennium “Fur & Feather” sea fishing match on the River Mersey attracted 130 anglers – the biggest entry this year – and it was won by Bootle’s Joe Perry with a cracking 10lb 7oz cod.

The family of an angler who was swept to his death in the River Tay said he was a “wonderful and loving” man who loved the hobby. David Hentges’ body was found by police on Friday, almost one week after he was overcome by the water during a fishing trip with his father.

Sport fishing for king salmon is closed this holiday weekend in many of the most popular fishing creeks in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The closure notice comes on the heels of an earlier emergency order shutting down the Deshka River to king salmon anglers, due to poor escapement.
