Offshore fishing has been as strong as usual this summer (New London Day)

This is the time of year when offshore fishing is usually red hot and the summer of 2009 is no exception. Boats making the long runs for one to two-day trips came back amply rewarded for their time and gas dollars. Roger at J&B Tackle reported the shop held its annual offshore tournament early this week with the best results in years.

Sport fishing for king salmon is closed this holiday weekend in many of the most popular fishing creeks in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The closure notice comes on the heels of an earlier emergency order shutting down the Deshka River to king salmon anglers, due to poor escapement.

Fishing at S.C. beach now comes with catch (The State)

If your holiday plans include fishing from a state beach, you will need a new saltwater-fishing license. Prices for a year-long license are $10 for residents, $35 for nonresidents. Temporary 14-day licenses are also available, $5 for residents and $11 for nonresidents.
